Blows were traded at an MDC Alliance mobilization meeting in the volatile Bulawayo province on Sunday forcing that party’s provincial secretary, Ernest Rafamoyo, to flee in order to save himself from the angry crowd who were baying for his blood.

In a move that would leave the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa nameless, the MDC Alliance principals led by MDC-T leader, Douglas Mwonzora met at Morgan Tsvangirai House in Harare and called on Chamisa to desist from using the name MDC Alliance and symbols. The Alliance invited other opposition parties to join it.

In an effort to save face, the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa made an about-turn from their original position of trying to keep Zimbabwe financially isolated, through a letter from MDC A vice president Tendai Biti to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) requesting for Zimbabwe to be withdrawn from countries eligible to receive funding under the Special Drawing Rights.
