CCC councillor evicted from his lodgings

Chipinge Magistrate, Alfred Chinembiri last week ruled that Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Chipinge Ward 7 councillor, Elijah Mugidho should immediately vacate a property he was renting from Mrs Daniye Sithole for failing to pay rent for the past five years.

Mugidho has been renting stand number 4159 located in Chipinge town and was supposed to be paying monthly rentals of US$50.00 per month. However, Mugidho used his political status to scare Mrs Sithole from demanding her rentals threatening her with unspecified actions.

Mrs Sithole last week told the court that Sithole had rent arrears amounting to nearly US$2000.00 and has also failed to settle a council water bill amounting to ZWL29 644.00.

Mrs Sithole added that the CCC councillor only paid rent once since 2017 and he even used a bag of compound D fertilizer to pay her first rental obligations.

According to Mrs Sithole, Mugidho has been bragging that he was well connected hence the 78 year old Mrs Sithole couldn’t do anything to him. Mrs Sithole told the magistrate that Mugidho once told her that as a councillor, he had the powers to change the ownership of the property into his name without any hustle.

In his ruling, magistrate Chinembiri evicted Mugidho from the property and ordered him to pay the outstanding rent.

Meanwhile, this publication also learnt that it was not the first time for Mugidho to use his political status in Chipinge to con residents as in 2018, he was dragged to court for duping a resident after refusing to surrender a residential stand number 4443 which he had sold to him for US$7000.00

Mugidho is also known in Chipinge as a crook who usually borrows from people and then fail to settle the debts in the prescribed time.
