Enhanced Mortgaging and Housing Africa (EMHA), a leading housing development company, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Government in delivering affordable housing to citizens.
The initiative aligns with President Mnangagwa's Vision 2030, which prioritizes access to decent and affordable housing for all Zimbabweans.
Speaking to this publication yesterday, EMHA's Chief Executive Officer, Afareshe Gambiza, emphasized the critical role private housing developers play in achieving this goal.
He noted that the company was dedicated to helping Government meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11, which advocates for access to improved housing with adequate basic services by 2030.
"It is incumbent upon private housing developers like us to assist the Government in realizing its housing targets. We have a duty to provide affordable housing stands to the population, ensuring that no one is left behind in the drive for decent shelter. At Enhanced Mortgaging and Housing Africa, we are fully committed to this cause,” said Gambiza.
Gambiza highlighted the strides EMHA has made over the past five years, particularly in providing affordable housing solutions for lower-income earners.
"We have worked tirelessly to allocate over 400 stands in areas such as Kuwadzana, Glen Norah,Mtoko, Nyabira, Gweru and Bulawayo. This is just the beginning, as our efforts to align with President Mnangagwa's vision for affordable housing and the country's broader development goals," he added.
Looking ahead, Gambiza revealed several ambitious projects slated for 2025 and beyond.
"We are excited about upcoming projects that will see 300 allocations in Harare, 600 stands in Chegutu, and 900 stands in Chiredzi. We are deeply grateful for the loyalty of our clients and remain steadfast in our mission to allocate homes to many more families," he said.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe is on course to meet a new housing target of one million houses by 2025, in line with the Second Republic's commitment to ensure every Zimbabwean has decent shelter over their heads.
This ambitious target builds on the Government’s success in surpassing its initial goal of 220 000 houses under the NDS1, as announced by the Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities in December last year.
Under the leadership of President Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe's housing strategy is designed to bridge the housing gap by leveraging partnerships with private developers and ensuring infrastructure investments are inclusive and sustainable.
This multi-sectoral approach reflects the country’s commitment to delivering on its Vision 2030 promises.
