 Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Joshua Sacco, yesterday presided over the 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ), reaffirming the Government’s unwavering commitment to transparency, efficiency, and professionalism within the aviation sector and across all public entities.

Addressing stakeholders at the Rainbow Towers Hotelin Harare, Deputy Minister Sacco emphasised the constitutional imperative of sound governance in public institutions.

“Government is committed to maximum transparency in operations, cost-effective resource utilisation, and upholding the highest professional ethics as stipulated in Section 194 of our Constitution,” said Deputy Minister Sacco.

He further underscored Zimbabwe’s dedication to liberalising its airspace in accordance with global standards.

“We remain fully committed to opening Zimbabwean skies in line with International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) recommendations and the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) framework. This approach is key to enhancing regional connectivity and supporting economic growth,” he stated.

Presenting the board’s report, CAAZ Board Chairperson, Retired Deputy Commissioner General,Nonkosi Ncube, outlined a strategic vision focused on operational reforms and fiscal consolidation.

“CAAZ intends to improve operational efficiency and reduce expenditures by streamlining business processes and restructuring departments to strengthen our financial standing,” she said.

The AGM served as a pivotal platform for evaluating the authority’s progress while setting the tone for the next phase of institutional reforms.

Discussions highlighted the need for sustained alignment with regional aviation protocols and domestic governance principles.

As Zimbabwe continues on its path towards aviation sector reform, Government and CAAZ leadership have pledged to uphold the highest standards of integrity, performance, and international cooperation.
