Exiled former Cabinet Minister, Jonathan Moyo has sensationally claimed that Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa has been contacting local journalists to compel them to push the narrative that there was no other leader in CCC except him.
In a tweet yesterday, Prof Moyo accused Chamisa of being a hypocrite by failing to recognise the likes of Tendai Biti as CCC vice president but at the same time recognising Fadzayi Mahere as that party’s spokesperson.
“No surprise @nelsonchamisa queried reference to @hwendec as CCC's SG, before deleting his tweet. He has been contacting reporters to query their references to @BitiTendai, @Welshman_Ncube and @KarenyiKore as #CCC VPs, saying the positions are not in his structure-less party!
“While @nelsonchamisa has queried references to @BitiTendai, @Welshman_Ncube & @KarenyiKore as CCC VPs & @hwendec as SG; he has not queried references to him as CCC President or to @advocatemahere as CCC spokesperson & @Cde_Ostallos as her deputy. A structure less tragedy,” Moyo posted.
Moyo also took a swipe at the CCC leader after he had deleted a tweet that suggested that Charlton Hwende was not the Secretary General of the party.
“Who is SG?? We have no such titles in the citizens’ movement. We are all change champions. We’re a great family!” said Chamisa in a deleted tweet.
Moyo commented saying Chamisa lacked the tenacity to back his judgement.
“When a leader of a political party that claims to be the main opposition and the government in waiting becomes notorious for posting tweets only to delete them with the speed of lightning, it means he either does not think before tweeting or he lacks the courage of his convictions!,” said Moyo.
Meanwhile, Front for the Economic Emancipation in Zimbabwe (FEEZ) leader, Godfrey Tsenengamu mocked Chamisa for leading a structure less party and predicted that CCC would crumble if a misfortune befalls Chamisa.
Tsenengamu added that CCC could not claim to be a government in waiting when citizens don’t know its leadership structure.
Chamisa has repeatedly ignored calls to form structures arguing that CCC was a citizens’ movement with no need of formal structures.
