The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa is reportedly in a catch 22 situation as his party was not adequately prepared for this year’s elections,
with President Mnangagwa set to pronounce the election dates next month.
A source from CCC informed this publication that Chamisa was behind in terms of election preparedness and was now working under pressure to come up with a manifesto and build his party.
"Chamisa is behind schedule ahead of the looming Harmonized General Elections, he is clueless on how to build a strong party that can challenge ZANU-PF. As it stands, Chamisa is yet to plan how his party’s 2023 campaigns would be conducted," said the source.
The same source lambasted Chamisa for taking other CCC members for a ride, by not sharing his political plans with most of them. The same source added that it was surprising how Chamisa continues to tweet that he is in the process of building a solid team when the election date was just around the corner.
"How can he talk of building a team now when we are less than four months to the election date? He should have done that a long while back, I foresee a massive CCC defeat at this year’s polls,” said the source.
Political analyst, Patrick Macheka, said that it was now evident that CCC could not be a political alternative as its leader lacks the political stamina to dethrone ZANU PF.
"Chamisa lacks the political stamina to challenge ZANU PF. His party lacks the democratic tenets needed for a political party to succeed. It would be a miracle for CCC to garner at least 20 percent of the votes in this year’s elections," said Macheka.
Meanwhile, Chamisa is swimming against the tide, as his recent visit to the United Sates (US) yielded little results as that country has started warming up to the Zimbabwean Government, as shown by its presence at the ongoing Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF).
