The engagement and re-engagement policy which is a key pillar of the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) has proved to be a success, following an increase in the number of countries that are willing to work with Zimbabwe towards the attainment of Vision 2030.
In a statement yesterday, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Livit Mugejo informed the nation that the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk Region of the Russian Federation, Yarin Vyacheslav would be visiting Zimbabwe to deliberate on potential areas of economic cooperation.
“The Minister of Foreign Economic Relations of the Sverlovsk Region of the Russian Federation, Honourable Yarin Vyacheslav, will pay an official visit to Zimbabwe from 1-3 March 2023.
“During his visit, Minister Vyacheslav will hold meetings with the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Honorable. Dr Sekai Nzenza, and captains of industry, as part of efforts to discuss potential areas of economic cooperation between Zimbabwe and the Sverlovsk Region of Russia,” said Mugejo.
Mugejo stated that Vyacheslav would also tour industrial sites specializing in machinery, equipment for timber processing and the production of rubber and pharmaceutical substances.
He further indicated that a roundtable business discussion would be held on 2 March 2023, as Zimbabwe and the Russian Federation broaden their cooperation on account of the existing political relations. The meeting will be attended by the Minister of Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Midlands Province Larry Mavima, as the two nations intends to establish a twinning arrangement between the Midlands Province and the Sverdlovsk Region of Russia.
Vycheslav will be accompanied by the Deputy Minister of the Sverlovsk Region of the Russian Federation, Igor Zelenkin, and a business delegation.
