Citizens have welcomed Government efforts of ensuring the safe return of Zimbabweans who are living and working in South Africa indicating it’s commitment toward the welfare of its people.
Political analyst from the University of Zimbabwe, Rutendo Makoni commended Government’s embracive efforts.
“We really applaud the Government for ensuring the safe return of all Zimbabweans working and living in South Africa. Their country needs them for development. Surely the mantra “Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo,” must be fulfilled. No one can build the Zimbabwe we all want except ourselves,” said Makoni.
Another political commentator John Maruta from Lupane University applauded this move stating that the people must come back and make use of the plenty of resources that are in the country.
“We have a vast of resources and these must be enjoyed by all of us. Let them come back and make use of them. Let us enjoy the national cake together,” said Maruta.
The development comes after President Emmerson Mnangagwa said the Government had put in place measures to ensure a smooth relocation of over 178 000 Zimbabweans, who have been living and working in South Africa under the Zimbabwe Exemption Permit (ZEP).
The ZEP was introduced to regularize the stay of Zimbabweans living and working in South Africa and will not be renewed upon expiry.
President Mnangagwa further explained that the nation is prepared for all the returnees coming from South Africa.
“We are preparing for their return, and to warmly welcome them once they step on home soil. We will do so fully confident that their return and re-integration into their families and communities, and with relatives and friends will be smooth.
“Government will assist them as they prepare to resume a productive life as full citizens back in the land of their birth,” said President Mnangagwa.
Meanwhile, a mapping which comprise of officials from different Government departments will leave for South Africa this week to ensure preparations are comprehensive and attend to every detail.
