Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has nodded to the recently gazetted Delimitation Report remarking that it was authentic and final.
The move set it on a collision course with Team Pachedu, an opposition data analyst group, which has been arguing that the report had numerous errors and was allegedly engineered to further ZANU PF’s electoral prospects.
Last Monday, President Mnangagwa gazetted the Delimitation Report which paves way for upcoming elections to be held under new boundaries in some areas.
The Delimitation Report has aroused furore from political players and some pseudo analysts who accused the Zimbabwe Election Commission (ZEC) and President Mnangagwa of flouting the Constitution in carrying out the exercise.
However, a source within CCC said that party was in agreement with the final Delimitation Report and did not want it to be tweaked or dismissed as advocated by Team Pachedu.
“CCC is in agreement with the final Delimitation Report and wants it to be embraced without alterations. The party has refused to be dragged into Team Pachedu’s attack of the report. CCC is not keen on seeing the report be tweaked for political expedience,” said the source.
The source added that CCC would not say much on the Delimitation Report as that party gave their contributions through the ad hoc committee.
According to the source, CCC is of the view that the Delimitation Report was in their favour and would not want it to be altered.
“CCC is of the view that the Delimitation Report was in their favour and would not want it to be altered. They know that Team Pachedu is being paid to discredit ZEC’s integrity and they have resolved to ignore the pressure group and concentrate on mobilising for the forthcoming elections,” added the source.
Meanwhile, last Tuesday President Mnangagwa announced that he would soon proclaim the date for the Harmonised General Elections following the gazetting of the final Delimitation Report.
