First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa has today handed food hampers and blankets to Masvingo Province as part of her efforts to cushion the vulnerable persons during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the First lady said she travelled in many rural areas doing awareness campaigns on the highly infectious pandemic. She said the disease had no cure and only needed God`s intervention for it to end.
The First Lady urged the residents of Masvingo urban to continue implementing the COVID-19 guidelines given by the Ministry of Health and Child Care and World Health Organisation in the fight against the coronavirus.
She said people should continue staying at home and avoid unnecessary travels.
The First lady has donated 2 500 food hampers which include 2kg packet of sugar, 10 kg mealie meal, cooking oil, salt, beans, soap and sanitizers.
The vulnerable persons which were given the food hampers include the elderly people, War veterans and people living with disability.
The First lady has been commended by Zimbabweans for her philanthropic work,which has seen her offering assistance in other provinces such as Manicaland,Midlands,Matabeleland South and Mashonaland West.
