Zimbabwe and Israel are set to deepen their economic cooperation through the Zim-Israel Connect initiative, a newly launched program aimed at fostering investment and collaboration in key sectors, such as tourism and agriculture.

Speaking at the launch in Harare yesterday, President of Action for Empowerment Zimbabwe, Alson Darikayi, emphasised the vast opportunities this partnership presents for both nations.

“This initiative seeks to facilitate and promote investment in Zimbabwe. We have successfully secured numerous partnerships with Israeli corporations eager to invest significantly across various sectors, including mining, infrastructure development, technology, education, and more,” Darikayi said.
The event’s guest of honour, Consul General of Zimbabwe to Israel, Ron Levy Musan, reinforced the importance of economic collaboration, highlighting the shared benefits of strengthening ties.

“Our focus is on fostering economic collaboration across diverse sectors, including technology, agriculture, health, security, and tourism. While we have made strides in promoting tourism to Israel, my priority remains to encourage tourism to Zimbabwe,” he said.

Musan also stressed the significance of Zimbabwe’s historical and cultural heritage in attracting international visitors, particularly those with religious interests.
“The Great Zimbabwe and Victoria Falls are not merely landmarks; they are integral to the biblical narrative of Genesis. We aim to attract Bible believers from around the world to experience this rich heritage,” he explained.

The launch of Zim-Israel Connect comes at a time when Zimbabwe’s “friend to all, enemy to none” foreign policy mantra is gaining traction, with an increasing number of foreign investors showing interest in the country.

With Israel’s expertise in advanced agricultural technologies and sustainable tourism development, Zimbabwe stands to benefit from knowledge transfer and investment that could enhance productivity and global tourism appeal. In return, Israel gains access to Zimbabwe’s untapped tourism potential and economic opportunities.

As Zimbabwe continues to open its doors to international partnerships, Zim-Israel Connect signals a new era of economic diplomacy, unlocking opportunities that could drive long-term growth and prosperity for both nations.
