Zimbabwe will host the International Chromium Development Association (ICDA) two day conference starting tomorrow from 7 to 8 May 2019 with international delegates from the chromium industry in a move aimed at boosting chrome value addition and marketing, Harare Post has learnt.
The Ministry of Mines and Mining Development on its twitter handle said the occurrence of the event to be held at Victoria Falls marks ICDA’s 35th Anniversary and shall attract close to 200 delegates.
“Zimbabwe is going to host the International Chromium Development Association conference in Victoria Falls from 7-9 May 2019. The event will mark ICDA’s 35th Anniversary. It will be attended by 200 high profile delegates from the world chromium industry value chain,” said the Ministry of Mines.
The Ministry of Mines also said Zimbabwe is second in the world in terms of chrome ore deposits and should be on the forefront interacting with experts in this field and access marketing opportunities.
“Zimbabwe holds the second largest chrome ore reserves in the world. The conference will provide an exceptional opportunity for delegates to get viewpoints from a diversified panel of experts including Government leaders, independent analysts and market representatives,” said the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development.
Harare Post has learnt Government is enabling the country’s mining sector to become productive through value edition by partnering with international investors. Partnerships with the international community should ensure retooling of local mines which in turn will enable them to add value to minerals.
