Government has set aside US$910.4million to fund road network expansion.

Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube has on his Twitter page revealed part of his 2019 Budget distribution.

“We have set aside US$910.4 million to fund the Road Network and Rehabilitation Programme, under the theme “A Road is the Economy,” said Minister Ncube.

Netizen Nomiah Samungu applauded the good work that is being carried out by Minister Ncube, rubbishing assertions by some netizens that Minister Mthuli Ncube should not be updating on Ministry of Transport issues.

“Indeed roads are a fundamental economic facilitation infrastructure resource.  Keep up the good work,” said Samungu on his Twitter page. As the Finance Director of Zimbabwe it`s within your space to update on budgetary allocations. In my view you are doing the best to turn around the economy.”

Another netizen Jonathan Chaitezvi, reiterated that Professor  Ncube is releasing the funds for road rehabilitation which in turn will stimulate economic growth.

Meanwhile the New Dispensation has been working on rehabilitating the roads since it came into power, having spruced up over 50 000km by end of December last year.

Major arterial roads such as the Beitbridge-Masvingo and the Bulawayo-Beitbridge and the Harare-Chirundu roads are on the Government priority list, with projects underway in all the country’s provinces.
