Members of the vanquished G40 factions are reportedly flocking to ZANU PF offices seeking readmission into the Party.
A source who spoke to this publication said that a number of former ZANU PF members who were expelled for their association with the G40 faction were frantically making efforts to have their names cleared and be readmitted into the Party.
According to the source, the letter of apology from self-exiled former Cabinet ministers, Professor Jonathan Moyo and Patrick Zhuwao was not surprising as more such letters were being expected from more G40 members before year end.
“The G40 members have finally realised that it’s cold outside ZANU PF. They are now making efforts to seek readmission into the Party. Don’t be surprised by that letter from Prof Moyo and Zhuwao as more such letters are coming from the G40 members, “said the source.
The source added that former Mashonaland Central Provincial chairperson, Itai Dickson Mafios and that province’s former Central Committee member, Thoko Bhami have also applied to re-join the Party.
The same source added that former ZANU PF Midlands provincial executive members Lot Mpofu Chihwereva, Tsitsi Zhou, Mercy Mashunye and Tapiwa Njovana were also seeking readmission into the Party.
According to the source, the ZANU PF security department is currently vetting some former G40 members before their readmission to the Party could be confirmed.
“Vetting is currently on going on some G40 members. If they pass vetting, surely they will be readmitted into the Party. However, according to the Party’s constitution they will have to start at the bottom as Cell/Village members before they aspire for senior positions,” added the source.
Meanwhile, some former G40 members such as Kudzanai Chipanga and Makhosini Hlongwane, among many others were this year readmitted into the Party.
