CCC threatens Chinese investments in the country

The fate of the Chinese investments in the country is uncertain in the unlikely event of a Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) presidential win next year.

A source who spoke to this publication said that CCC leaders, Nelson Chamisa and Tendai Biti, were in Lesotho last weekend for the inauguration of that country’s Prime Minister, Sam Matekane. He said the duo highlighted to Matekane that upon a likely CCC victory next year, they will expel all Chinese from the country and their investments will be forfeited to the State.

“Chamisa and Biti were in Maseru last weekend and the former presented Biti to the other delegates as the best ever economic expert to ever come from Zimbabwe. Amid Chamisa’s discussions with Matekane, Biti chipped in and said that once the CCC assumes the presidency of the country after next year’s polls, they will immediately expel all Chinese nationals from the country and confiscate their investments,” said the source.

The source added that Biti exposed his hatred for the Chinese during that meeting as he accused same of siding with the ruling ZANU PF party.

The same source added that the two CCC leaders said that in the event that CCC wins the elections next year, they will also consider redistributing land with a view to returning some land to its former white owners.

“The two CCC leaders told their regional counterparts that they will consider redistributing land in the event that they form the next government. Chamisa and Biti said that they would consider downsizing some farms with the view of returning some farms to their previous white owners,” said the source.

Political analyst, Ignatius Zenzo said that it was unfortunate that CCC was already plotting of reversing developments that were brought in the country by the Chinese in the unlikely event of winning the next elections. Zenzo added that Zimbabweans should vote wisely knowing that in the event of a CCC victory, land will likely be returned to our former colonisers with Chinese investments that are employing thousands of locals being also being threatened.

Meanwhile, efforts to get a comment from CCC spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere were futile as her mobile phones were not reachable.
