President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been hailed for his commitment to serve the people in line with his mantra of leaving no one and no place behind in terms of development.
In line with his mantra, the President donated food consignment to Lydia Chimonyo Girls High School in Chimanimani.
The food consignment was handed over to the school by the Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Nokuthula Matsikenyere.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Minister Matsikenyere alluded that the food assistance was in response to a school girl who requested meat from President Mnangagwa arguing that their parents could not afford to provide them with a balanced diet following the Cyclone Idai and the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Today we have handed over 1000 birds to the school and very soon we are delivering the remaining 400. Remember sometime in September we delivered the first consignment. We want to thank His Excellency the President for being a listening President.
“He was approached by the girl who requested meat to be part of their diet as their parents could not afford to provide a balanced diet at the school after being affected by Cyclone Idai and the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Minister Matsikenyere.
The school authorities and the students at school expressed gratification to the food consignment which they received.
“We are happy that we have received these food items. Indeed the girls were complaining that they wanted meat and the President has delivered so we are very happy,” said Maggie Chinyerera who is the Headmistress at Lydia Chimonyo Girls High School.
President Mnangagwa continues to fulfill his promises of not leaving anyone and no place behind in all spheres of life. Addressing a gathering this year in August, at the 8th Annual Agri-Business Conference held in Harare to launch the Agriculture Recovery and Livestock Growth Plans set to achieve a USD 8.2 billion agriculture economy, President Mnangagwa reiterated that in all the programmes, it is important that no one is left behind especially women, youth, veterans of the struggle and people with disabilities.
