The Sports and Recreation Commission Chairperson, Gerald Mlotshwa has congratulated the Minister of Youth, Sport, Art and Recreation, Kirsty Coventry on her recent appointment as the Chairperson of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Games Optimization Working Group.

Mlotshwa conveyed the congratulatory message through a statement that he issued yesterday.

“The Sports and Recreation Commission conveys its heartfelt congratulations to the Honorable Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, Dr Kirsty Coventry on her appointment as the Chairperson of the International Olympic Committee Games Optimization Working Group,” he said.

The Zimbabwe Chess Federation also congratulated Minister Coventry on her new appointment

Minister Coventry also chairs the IOC`s Coordination Commission for Brisbane 2032.  She has been the Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation in the Cabinet of Zimbabwe since September 2018. She is a former swimmer and world record holder and the most decorated swimming Olympian from Africa.
