The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) continues to suffer defection in rural areas despite efforts to penetrate same through their Mugwazo rural penetration programme.
Speaking in an interview with this publication, a source within the CCC party revealed that ZANU PF Matabeleland South Provincial Political Commissar, Washington Nkomo welcomed 32 defectors from CCC in Ward 16 of Matobo District.
The source indicated that CCC’s lack of principles had become the biggest source of disgruntlement among party members, leading to the opposition outfit losing supporters.
One defector, Duduzile Ncube from Kezi District said that she could not spend the rest of her life in a party that was clueless and was led by an autocratic leader who did not tolerate contrary views.
“CCC has no direction and is clueless. How can I spend my life in a party with no structures? Nelson Chamisa is an autocratic leader, and no one challenges him. He makes his decisions unilaterally, which is the major reason CCC has no structures to talk about,” she said.
Another defector, Dalubuhle Dube highlighted that the only party that could improve the welfare of the people of Zimbabwe was the ruling party ZANU PF because it had people-centred policies.
“ZANU PF is the only party with people-centred policies and programmes. The party is currently seized with developmental programmes such as the road rehabilitation, providing free inputs to everyone in rural areas through the Pfumvudza/Intwasa Programme. The party leaves no one and no place behind when it comes to development and empowerment programmes,” said Dube.
Nicholson Maphisa from Filabusi highlighted that he decided to join ZANU PF because he wanted to be associated with a constructive party that upholds its patriotic ideals.
“ZANU PF consists of patriotic members who are willing to work for the Zimbabwe we all want, unlike CCC that has caused the suffering of the Zimbabwean masses through calling for sanctions. A wise man can just go to where there is development,” said Maphisa.
The ruling party is targeting five million votes for President Emmerson Mnangagwa in the 2023 Harmonized General Elections. The goal of the Party is to mobilize its members its party structures.
