Chamisa, Ncube daggers drawn

The fragile relations between Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa and one of his co interim deputies, Welshman Ncube, is set to crumble for good with emerging reports indicating that the latter was frustrated by Chamisa’s dictatorial tendencies.

A source who spoke to this publication said Ncube was not happy with the manner Chamisa was running CCC and was contemplating abandoning the newly formed party. According to the source, Ncube’s disgruntlement emanates from Chamisa’s recent declaration that CCC was a new political outfit without structures or leaders except himself.

“Ncube is now fed up with Chamisa. He was irked when Chamisa claimed that CCC was a new party without structures. Ncube was angered by that as he argues that Chamisa has effectively reduced him to a mere card carrying member,” said the source.

This publication learnt that Ncube has resorted to feigning illness so that he absents himself from CCC meetings and rallies that Chamisa addresses. The source claimed that Ncube confided in his allies that he was tired of being treated as a political toddler by Chamisa and would rather boycott meetings than be humiliated by the CCC leader.

The source added that to express his disgruntlement, Ncube refused to visit the local embassies to lobby for support for the CCC programmes as was directed by Chamisa. Ncube argued that he had no political standing to canvass for support for the CCC programmes as he was just an ordinary CCC member.

According to the source, Ncube was already planning for life outside CCC as he was in a whirlwind tour of the Matabeleland region to rally all activists and politicians based in that region to coalesce under what will be called the Matebeleland Agenda, a grouping of people opposed to Chamisa.

The source added that to date, Ncube held clandestine meetings with former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) secretary general Gorden Moyo, Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association coordinator Rodrick Fayaya, CITE director Zenzele Ndebele and MDC-T faction leader Thokozani Khupe.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Chamisa is plotting to expel Ncube or force him to resign from the CCC. Chamisa is believed to be using his allies in Bulawayo to haunt Ncube until he throws in the towel.
