‘Chamisa is a tin-pot dictator’

Frustrated Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members have labelled their leader, Nelson Chamisa a tin-pot dictator following his decision to appoint the Provincial Citizens Champions (PCC) without consulting other members.

The PCCs are expected to mobilise support for the CCC and they are expected to possess the same powers with that of the provincial chairpersons.

CCC members who confided in this publication said Chamisa was going to appoint the PCCs to run the affairs of the provinces. The source said Chamisa’s decision had no blessing of other CCC senior members as they weren’t consulted.

“Our president (Chamisa) is a tin-pot dictator, an autocratic ruler with little political credibility and delusions of grandeur. He is set to appoint the PCCs without consulting other members. He is slowly turning the CCC party into his own personal project,” said the source.

The source added that the PCCs would consists of influential persons in each province and their task would be to mobilise on behalf of the CCC. The source argued that the majority of the CCC members were not receptive to the idea of having PCCs to run the affairs of the provinces as they would be replacing the interim structures that are currently in charge of the provinces.

“How can we have PCCs when we have provincial chairpersons who are currently running the affairs of the province?  We don’t know where Chamisa is getting this weird idea of the PCCs. If Chamisa continue to impose his ideas on us, then it’s only a matter of time before the party crumbles,” said the source.

The source further said that Chamisa’s interim co-deputies were getting frustrated by his dictatorial tendencies and in Bulawayo province, Professor Welshman Ncube has openly opposed the appointment of PCCs in that province arguing that he was not consulted. The source said Prof Ncube viewed himself as the godfather of the Matebeleland region and was irked when Chamisa wanted to impose PCCs without consulting him.

According to the source, Chamisa has already resolved to appoint Tajamuka/Sesjikile Movement leader, Promise Mkwananzi, as the PCC Chairperson for Bulawayo. Backed by Chamisa, Mkwananzi has already started mobilising for support and was telling people to disregard the leadership of the provincial chairperson James Sithole as he was the incoming PCC Chairperson.

The source added that Chamisa’s failure to consult his lieutenants on key matters and his habit of directly interfering with the lower ranks of that party was a ticking time bomb for the new party.

Efforts to get a comment from Chamisa or the CCC interim spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere were futile as their mobile phones were not reachable.
