MDC Alliance (MDCA) leader, Nelson Chamisa’s dubious plan to double cross MDC-T leaders (Thokozani Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora) has come to the fore after a close associate naively exposed his ‘tactful’ strategies over his opponents.
According to the source, the MDC-A frontman Chamisa’s voracious appetite for power has led him to come up with two strategies to outwit his opponents, divide and rule; and striking the shepherd to scatter the ship.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, Chamisa’s close associate described him as a shrewd tactician, not to be underestimated.
“Everyone thinks that he has lost grip on the party, and yet that’s not the case, he knows what he is doing. He has already set in motion a strategy intended to strike the shepherd so that the MDC-T sheep will scatter; while he has always used the divide and rule tactic when it comes to internal party conflicts,” he said.
Currently Chamisa was reported to have approached MDC-T leaders (Khupe and Mwonzora) individually, offering them lucrative packages and making them believe that he intends to make peace, and work together with them to reunite what’s left of the party, yet eventually discard them.
At the same time, Chamisa’s social media warriors are racing to disparage the likes of Tendai Biti and Job Sikhala who are seemingly posing a threat to his reign so that eventually the electorate will discredit them.
“You realise that there are people on social media who are always keen to pass negative comments on Biti and Sikhala accusing them of being over ambitious and harbouring presidential aspirations. It’s all part of Chamisa’s strategy to pre-empt these issues before hand,” said the source.
Likewise the Mwonzoras have had their fair share of being labelled Zanu Pf sell-outs on social media, also a deliberate attempt to soil their image.
He added that Chamisa was very much aware of those in his kitchen cabinet who were selling out to the ‘system’ (the state) and would deal with them in due course.
As the fragmented MDC-A continues to crumble like a deck of cards, and piling more misery on Chamisa, the young man seems to be running around trying to mop up any available strategies which might assist him cling onto the little power left.
