The Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials which have been translated into the 16 indigenous languages including sign language and braille have been distributed to all provinces after they were collected from the Midlands State University (MSU), the Harare Post can report.
It has been established that yesterday Provincial Information Officers managed to collect IEC materials on Covid19 from MSU. The materials comprise of booklets in various official languages, sign language DVDs; sign language memory sticks (visual and audio) and Braille booklets.
Information Officers in the provinces also reported as follows, Masvingo province collected 1 300 copies of the Covid19 booklets while Manicaland Province collected 12 000 copies of Covid19 booklets from MSU, just to mention a few.
This was announced by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa last month while presenting the eleventh Cabinet Decision Matrix.
She said, “Of particular note is the reproduction of Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials into 16 indigenous languages including sign language and braille. Cabinet agreed that the reproduction and distribution of IEC materials in the 16 Indigenous languages, inclusive of sign language and braille be commenced.”
