In a bid to stop the spread of the corona virus, Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) has come up with a mealie-meal distribution program in cities to make it easier for the urbanites to access the subsidised mealie meal following stringent lockdown measures by the Government restricting movement of people in the cities.
In Harare, those who come from Highfields, Glen Norah A, B and C, Budiriro 1-5, Kuwadzana 1-7, Mufakose, Rufaro, Southerton, Kambuzuma, Warren Park and Marimba will get their weekly allocation on Mondays.
Dzivaresekwa, Tynwald, Madokero, Malbereign, Avondale, Belvedere, Malborough, Westgate and Bluff Hill will get their allocation on Tuesdays.
On Wednesday, the distribution will go to Mount Pleasant, Borrowdale, Hatcliff, Kamfinsa, Chisipite, Glen Lorne, Eastlea and Greendale.
Mabvuku,Tafara, Eastview, Ruwa, Damafalls, Zimre Park and Sunnyway City will get their allocation on Thursdays. Friday it will be all suburbs in Harare East. On Saturdays the mealie meal will be distributed to Harare South.
Other cities that have been given their time tables are, Chitungwiza, Mutare, Gweru, Kwekwe and Bulawayo.
This move has been commended by the urbanites saying that it will curb the spread of the coronavirus.
To date, Zimbabwe has 14 confirmed cases of COVID-19 including three deaths. Harare has the largest number of seven people infected including two deaths.
