Government has announced that ‘O’ and ‘A’ level exams are to proceed as scheduled despite the Public Holiday that was declared on 25 October 2019.
In a press statement, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Professor Paul Mavima said a Public Holiday had been declared on, 25 October 2019, to mark the SADC initiated Day set aside to call for the total removal of Western sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.
“When Government declared, Friday 25th October 2019, a Public Holiday to mark SADC Solidarity Day against illegal Western sanctions on Zimbabwe, it was aware that the ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Public Examinations were in progress.
“In this regard the Examinations scheduled for the, 25th October 2019, shall be written as per their time table,” he said.
The Minister advised school heads, principles, invigilators and all those involved in running the examinations to ensure that all candidates report to their respective examination centres as per their time table.
This statement comes after speculations doing the rounds on social media that the ‘O’ and ‘A’ level examinations could be affected by the announced public holiday.
Detractors had gone ballistic accusing government of disrupting other national programmes at the expense of the Anti-Sanctions Day.
