First lady Her Excellency Auxillia Mnangagwa was appointed as Ambassador of Health and Child Care during her launch of the Nursing Now Zimbabwe Project in Harare yesterday.
In her key note address, the First Lady expressed gratitude on her appointment as Ambassador for Health and Child Care.
“I am pleased, honoured and humbled to accept this responsibility as Ambassador of Health and Child Care. It is the strength in me that when I focus on work I make sure that it is done,” she said.
The First lady mentioned that the Ministry of Health and Child Care first appointed her to be Ambassador of maternal health but later found it proper for her to be appointed as Ambassador of Health and Child Care.
“Initially I was appointed as Ambassador of maternal health but the Ministry of Health and Child Care found it suitable to appoint me to be Ambassador of Health and Child Care,” said the First Lady.
The First lady also appreciated the role played by nurses indicating that it was very crucial in achieving developmental goals.
“Nurses are at the heart of sustainable developmental goals as well as transforming the health sector,” said Her Excellency.
The Nursing Now Zimbabwe Project is a program aimed at rising up the profile and status of Nurses. It is a three year campaign program which shall end in 2020 based on the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale who is the mother of modern day nursing.
