The Registrar General Clement Masango today revealed that his Department will seek exemption from the job freezes due to understaffing that he has observed during his familiarisation tour of his offices in the Bulawayo Metropolitan Province recently.
“I have observed that the offices are under staffed, the current employment freeze on recruitment across government did not spare the Department,” he said.
He added that, “The Department will seek exemption from the job freezes so that we achieve our mandate of Vital Civil Registrations.”
During his maiden visit to the Bulawayo offices, Registrar General Masango was able to visit, Nketa sub office, Pumula sub office, Entumbane sub office, Mpilo Hospital, United Bulawayo Hospital, Bulawayo District Office and the Bulawayo Provincial Office which houses the passport office.
“I also visited and interacted with staff at the main District office and the Provincial Office which is the Bulawayo Passport office,” said RG Masango.
Masango, advised people who had come to process their registrations for Birth certificates and National Identification cards to practice early registration.
“We encourage citizens to register their children within 6 week of birth and also to obtain IDs for free as soon as they turn 16years. Identity documents are issued on the sport, unlike the old system where one would wait for 2 years before a metal ID card,” Masango said.
