Former MDC legislature for Harare West, Jessie Majome, was among the ten prominent lawyers who participated in the public interviews for the Prosecutor-General’s post yesterday.
Appearing before a panel of 11commissioners of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) yesterday, Majome said she had since left politics and accepted the loss.
“I left active politics on 30 July 2018 after l was given all sorts of insults because I had different views,” she said.
Majome said she had since accepted the defeat and the country should move on.
“I did my part and voluntarily because I had entered into an arena of politics voluntarily, l can sleep with clear conscience because I did my part to the fullest,” she said.
She said she no longer had appetite for politics and her decision was not influenced by anyone.
The post fell vacant following the suspension and subsequent resignation of Advocate Ray Goba in July this year. Adv Goba was suspended on allegations of failing to prosecute high-profile cases, travelling abroad without Cabinet authority and use of abusive language, among other charges.

The interview panel was chaired by Chief Justice Luke Malaba, his deputy Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza, Judge President, George Chiweshe, Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Vincent Hungwe, Judge Hapias Zhou, Advocate Prince Machaya, Commissioners Prisilla Madzonga, Lloyd Mhishi, Mishorod Guvarombe, Prisilla Mutembwa and Josphat Tshuma.
