… as Chamisa contemplates boycotting elections.

Fissures within the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) continue to widen as the leader of that party, Nelson Chamisa moots on election boycott on the eve of the 23 August Harmonised General Election, the Harare Post can reveal.

Speaking to this publication, one of the CCC’s House of Assembly contestants bemoaned the stance that his party leader intends to adopt..

Mukoma vigai zita rangu, this is disturbing, mukuru arikuzviona kuti pa election iyi hapana chake, saka avekuda kutibatanidzira nekudayidzira election boycott, isu semacandidates tati kwete. (Please hide my name, this is disturbing, Chamisa has foreseen his imminent defeat and has decided to call for election boycott, whereas we, as the candidates, don’t concur with his stance).

“Zviripachena kuti isu ma Member of Parliament nema Council tinemukana weku winner muma urban areas, just like zviripachena kuti Chamisa haasi kuzo kunda pasarudzo idzi,(It is clear that we as urban Members of Parliament and urban Councillors, we are poised to win just as it is clear that Nelson Chamisa is losing the presidential bid),” said the source.

Furthermore, political analysts have castigated Chamisa for using unorthodox means to discredit the elections and force for a Government of National Unit (GNU).

“Chamisa is now desperate as it has become crystal clear that he has no chance of making it to the State House. As such, he is contemplating a boycott in order to discredit the elections. This is a cowardly and immature behaviour by one who aspires to be a leader of the whole country.

“The people have spoken through their numbers at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s rallies, that they want him to continue with his socio-economic, infrastructural and investment trajectory that will see the country attain and Upper Middle Income Economy by 2030,” said Clifford Madondo.

Nelson Chamisa and his handlers have realised the sad truth that he is going to lose the election as people continue to show their support for President Mnangagwa by flooding his star rallies and snubbing Chamisa’s rallies.

This bitter pill to swallow has led to his handlers coming up with desperate measures such as introducing CCC Manifesto on the eve of elections, stage managing violent attacks on CCC members by alleged Zanu PF supporters as a strategy to create the basis of contest the election results.
