The newly built Nyagande Clinic in Uzumba-Maramba-Pfungwe (UMP), opened its doors to patientsthis week, marking a significant milestone in Zimbabwe’s health service delivery agenda under Vision 2030.

In a statement yesterday, Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangawana, said the facilityconstructed by the UMP Rural District Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, was now fully operational.

It is already offering a comprehensive range of essential services, including maternal care, immunisations, outpatient consultations, chronic disease management, and public health education,” headded.

Prior to the clinic’s opening, many villagers were forced to travel up to 20 kilometres to the nearest health facility.

The new development has drastically reduced that burden, making healthcare more accessible and saving lives in the process.

“This clinic is a game-changer for the people of Nyagande. We no longer have to walk for hours to get treatment. Mothers can now deliver their babies safely, and children can be vaccinated on time. Thiscollaborative effort that made the clinic possible speaks to the Second Republic’s commitment to leaving no one and no place behind. We are seeing tangible results in the improvement of rural infrastructure,” MiriamDongo, a local resident said.

The Nyagande Clinic is part of a broader national push to decentralise health services in alignment with the Government’s Vision 2030, which aims to achieve an upper-middle-income economy within the next five years.

Under this vision, dozens of health facilities have been completed or are underway across the country.

Recent similar projects include the construction of Rukweza Clinic in Makoni District, Chibondo Health Centre in Binga and Cowdray Park Clinic in Bulawayo. These facilities are providing critical services to previously underserved communities, ensuring that healthcare is not a privilege but a right enjoyed by all.
