The Public Service Commission Job Fair commenced yesterday at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Hall 4, attracting all line ministries and a significant number of job seekers.
Running till today (27th of June), the event aims to raise awareness about employment opportunities within the Public Service, register job seekers, and highlight the advantages of a career in public service, particularly for the youth.
In an exclusive interview with this publication, Samuel Chigarisano, the Head of Strategic Planning & Programme Management at the Public Service Commission, outlined the objectives and significance of the job fair.
“Our primary goal is to connect job seekers with the myriad of opportunities available in the Public Service. We want to demystify public service employment and showcase the benefits that come with it,” he stated.
Chigarisano also emphasized the importance of youth engagement in the public sector.
“The youth are the future of our nation, and their involvement in public service is crucial for sustainable development. We want to attract young, talented individuals who can bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the table
Government through the job fair is providing an excellent platform for young people to explore various career options and interact directly with potential employers,” Chigarisano added
Mr Chigarisano further stated that the two-day event features a variety of activities designed to engage and inform attendees.
“Representatives from different ministries are on hand to provide detailed information about job openings, career paths, and the application process. Workshops and seminars are also scheduled, offering insights into the public service sector’s roles and responsibilities, as well as tips on how to successfully navigate the recruitment process,” he stated
Alfred Gomere an industry analyst applauded the initiative on his X page saying that one of the highlights of the job fair is the registration of job seekers for employment in the Public Service.
“I noticed that dedicated booths have been set up where individuals can submit their resumes and register for future job opportunities. This initiative aims to streamline the recruitment process and ensure that the Public Service Commission has a ready pool of qualified candidates to fill vacancies as they arise,” Gomere stated
The Public Service Commission Job Fair underscores the commitment of Government to promote public service employment and provide accessible information to the public. As the event continues, it is expected to draw even more participants, eager to explore the promising opportunities within the public sector.
