The Government has issued a reminder for public servants to diligently deliver services and to refrain from engaging in corrupt practices, emphasizing that such activities are unacceptable in public offices.
Speaking during the Public Service Commission’s local commemorations of Africa Public Service Day (APSD) 2024, held at Meikles Park in Mutare, from June 21 to 23, Acting Chairman of the Service Commissions, Dr. Nomathemba Ndiweni, condemned corruption in the public service.
“Corruption has no place in public offices, we must uphold the highest standards of integrity and accountability in our work,” she said.
Dr. Ndiweni emphasized the importance of ethical conduct among public servants, highlighting the detrimental impact of corruption on public trust and service delivery.
“Our duty is to serve the public with honesty and dedication by eliminating corrupt practices, we can ensure that public resources are used for the benefit of all citizens and not diverted for personal gain.
“The future of work is digital, and Government has already embraced E- Governance, I urge all public servants to advance themselves through continuous learning and embracing 21st-century technological changes,” she added.
Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Honorable July Moyo, expressed his appreciation for public servants’ efforts in service delivery, emphasizing their crucial role in realizing Vision 2030.
“The dedication and hard work of our public servants are essential to achieving our national goals. Your contributions are paving the way for a prosperous and sustainable future for our country. Our unwavering patriotism and resilience in overcoming challenges are bolstered by the President’s call to take ownership of our nation’s development,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has initiated the signing of an integrity pledge, underscoring the Second Republic's ongoing commitment to zero tolerance for corruption across all sectors.
RBZ Governor, Dr. John Mushayavanhu and other senior officials at the Central Bank, signed pledges to serve the people of Zimbabwe diligently.
