Exhibitors of the 108th edition of the Harare Agricultural Show (HAS) have applauded the organisers of the show saying it was well organised and were looking forward to the 109th edition.
HAS which started on Monday and ended yesterday witnessed a lot of activities taking place from business, both farming and entertainment.
In an interview with Harare Post, Sales and Marketing Manager, Eastern Region, Seedco, Simba Gotosa said they recorded a brisk business from their short season seed varieties from the first day of exhibition.
"This was a good show, things were more organised and we are happy with attendance as well from a business point of view because for us it's about selling our products and getting inquiries which will follow up to their respective farming regions after the fair.
"We are happy with the business we generated and looking forward to the next edition. The climate conditions continue to shift and will adapt to the ever changing weather patterns. We had the opportunity to explain to our farmers the need to plant hybrid seeds and we gave them advice on which variety suits different regions," he said.
Command Agriculture stand stole the hearts of many show goers as they were inundated with so many enquiries. Fadzai Mapukute, who was manning the Livestock section also gave HAS thumbs up saying that "so far a lot of inquiries as you are aware Command has many facets like Livestock, Fishing, Mining and many more is really well sought by the generality of Zimbabweans."
Weighing in on the success of the exhibition was SMEs International Export Chief Executive, Blessing Magenga who said they had taken a leaf from how HAS was organised. He said the show had helped to market her expo which is slated for October this year.
Edmore Matiza, a farmer from Chikombedzi said he was encouraged by the commitment of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society to improving the national herd through its Livestock Revitalisation Programme which improves the lives of the ordinary farmer
"It's a very positive thing that we have Government taking a lead in such programs such as Command Fisheries, Wildlife, Agriculture," said Matiza.
The show was opened by President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, who is spearheading the mantra Zimbabwe is open for business.
