Zim records milestones at UNGA78

The Second Republic’s diplomatic efforts continue to bear fruits as the country recorded milestones at the just ended United Nations General Assembly (UNGA78) that was held in New York, United States of America.

Speaking during the Post-Cabinet Press Briefing, Minister of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Jenfan Muswere has affirmed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa successfully attended the 78th Session of the UNGA in New York.

“Cabinet wishes to advise that during the UNGA 78th Session, His Excellency President Mnangagwa stressed the compelling need to strengthen multilateralism for the world to effectively respond to the multi-dimensional and interlinked crisis facing the global community.

President Mnangagwa participated and contributed in the SDG Summit, the High Level Dialogue on Financing for Development, the High Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response, Universal Health Coverage (UHC),” said Minister Muswere.

Minister Muswere further stated that, President Mnangagwa together with other SADC leaders vigorously campaigned for the removal of the illegally imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe.

“His Excellency the President Mnangagwa deplored the continued application of unilateral sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe which were causing immense suffering among the generality of the people. Leaders from Angola, Cuba, Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa joined his Excellency the President in calling for the unconditional lifting of the sanctions,” said Minister Muswere.

Furthermore, the President engaged his SADC counterparts, notably President Lourenzo of Angola, President Nyusi of Mozambique, President Geingob of Namibia and President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, over the recent peaceful, free and fair harmonized elections that were held in Zimbabwe, as well as cooperation in the energy sector with Mozambique.
