as CCC fails to pay for services

In a situation that threatens a repeat of the 2018 Harmonised Elections, where the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) failed to post adequate polling agents into most of the country’s polling stations due to misappropriation of finances, CCC has failed to pay for its agents’ training and subsistence fees, the Harare Post can reveal.
Speaking to this publication, one of the polling agents from Chegutu East revealed that they were not getting any financial assistance, something that has disgruntled many polling agents across the country.
"There is a situation that threatens the participation of selected party (CCC) agents tomorrow as they have not been paid a single cent since the start of training; even the training fees have not been paid.
"I told Tendai Biti yesterday, and he said he would get back to me after discussing with the relevant candidates; up to now, I am still waiting for that phone call.
"Some of us have been forking money out of our pockets, but it is not sustainable; I don't have money anymore to continue financing a whole party," said the CCC agent, who preferred anonymity.
According to the source, CCC members from Gokwe, Zvimba North, and some scattered areas across the country have not turned up for the final training and are threatening not to show up tomorrow.
"There is absolutely nothing that I can do. I tried convincing the agents to turn up, but they want to be paid first. They are claiming that a repeat of 2018 is likely to happen where those who participated have not been paid up to now," said the source.
Meanwhile, in 2018, CCC polling agents failed to show up at their designated polling posts as they were not paid. This scenario is what CCC leader Nelson Chamisa tried to use to challenge President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s landslide victory, but failed. This time around, he has already predicted his defeat and is scratching around for reasons to discredit Zanu PF's election victory.
