The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is in disarray ahead of the country's general elections scheduled for August 23 this year.
That party has been rocked by infighting and allegations of vote-rigging in the selection of its candidates.
As a result, the CCC has not yet announced its full list of candidates, and it is unclear whether it will be able to field a united front in the elections.
Political analyst, Terrence Chipwanya, said that the CCC's disarray could give Zanu-PF an advantage in the August polls.
"Zanu-PF has been in power in Zimbabwe for over 43 years, and it has a well-oiled electoral machine. The divisions within CCC would cause Zanu PF to resoundingly win the upcoming elections," said Chipwanya.
Chipwanya added that the CCC would need to overcome its internal divisions if it wanted to have a chance of winning the 2023 elections.
"CCC would also need to find a way to address the internal problems and to connect with the grassroots who are disillusioned with the party leadership. It also needs to overcome its internal divisions if it wants to perform better in the upcoming elections," added Chipwanya.
Meanwhile, there are reports that two legislators, Tendai Biti and Allan Norman Markham, were not seeing eye to eye after the former accused Markham of coveting his Harare East constituency. Biti was also recently quoted in the media describing Markham as a snake and a foreigner.
