Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Bulawayo, Matebeleland North and South provinces are up in arms against their leader Nelson Chamisa for possible candidate imposition.
Speaking to this publication, Political Analyst Mqondisi Ndlovu pointed out the financial constraints that CCC party is facing as well as the factional wars as the major contributors for candidate imposition by that party’s leadership.
“There are serious financial constraints within the CCC party that have resulted in the collapse of major programs such as the Mugwazo program. Chamisa is basically seeking for financially stable candidates to bankroll that party’s campaign for the 2023 Harmonised General Elections.
“It is just unfortunate that the popular members with grass root support are without financial muscle, hence Chamisa’s decision to go with the fly by night candidates who have no meaningful financial contribution toward that party,” said Ndlovu.
Furthermore, a CCC party member in Phumula constituency under Sichelesile Mahlangu, bemoaned that party’s leadership for disregarding their long standing members such at Thabitha Khumalo and favouring the political turncoats such as Thokozani Khupe, who is amongst the possible members for imposition.
“Akulunganga abakwenzayo, okokusilethela omafikizolo, sonke siyakwazi ukuthi uKhupe ngumuntu kaMnangagwa, manje sebefuna lokumnika iconstituency. (It is not right what they (leadership) is doing, bringing us Jonnie-come-lately, we all know that Khupe is Mnangagwa’s person, how can they want to give her a constituency),” said the CCC member.
According to a leaked WhatsApp message, Thokozani Khupe is at the top of the list followed by Gift Banda; Patrick Moyo; Collet Ndlovu; Thabani Moyo and Tendai Gwaradzimba among others.
Meanwhile, factionalism continues to self-destruct that party, with Charlton Hwende who recently abandoned the Mugwazo program, threatening to join the newly announced Democratic Party of Zimbabwe (DUZ).
