Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim co-vice president, Tendai Biti is reportedly contemplating retracing his footsteps back to MDC-T as he is currently frustrated by Nelson Chamisa’s autocratic leadership.
A source who spoke to this publication said that Biti was growing weary of Chamisa’s undemocratic behaviour and was currently sending his emissaries to Douglas Mwonzora so that he can re-join the MDC-T ahead of the 2023 Harmonised General elections.
“Interesting times are ahead of us. Biti is not happy with how CCC is being managed by Chamisa and is contemplating re-joining MDC-T and dump Chamisa before the 2023 elections. Biti is not happy with how Chamisa has been captured by the Johnny-come-lately who are now controlling the affairs of CCC, relegating senior members to the peripheries of the party’s affairs,” said the source.
The source said that Biti was tired of being referred to as a Change Champion, a description that is given to any CCC member except Chamisa and he now wants a party that has solid structures.
According to the source, Biti has confided in his close lieutenants that Mwonzora was a better devil than Chamisa as he was a constitutionalist and a principled man.
The same source added that it was not only Biti who was being frustrated by Chamisa’s autocratic behaviour but other senior members were also plotting to coalesce around Mwonzora.
“It’s not Biti only who is agitated by Chamisa’s dictatorial behaviour but other senior CCC members are feeling the same. Those who were with the original MDC before its split into various formations are thinking of reviving that party under Mwonzora and leave Chamisa with his mafikizolos,” said the source.
Efforts to get a comment from Biti were futile as his mobile phones were not reachable. CCC national spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere didn’t respond to messages send to her through WhatsApp.
