Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa was reportedly rattled by Professor Moyo and Patrick Zhuwao’s letter of apology to ZANU PF.
A source who spoke to this publication said that Chamisa was surprised by the apology letter and was left fuming that he was sold a damn by Professor Moyo.
“Chamisa was rattled by Prof Moyo’s letter of apology to ZANU PF. Although of late his relationship and Prof Moyo had gone sour, he was still certain that Prof Moyo would continue attacking and discrediting ZANU PF ahead of the 2023 elections. The latest developments have left Chamisa fuming and accusing Moyo of being an uncultured political prostitute,” said the source.
The source added that Chamisa was afraid that Prof Moyo would leak to the public some secrets they shared when their friendship blossomed prior to the 2018 elections.
According to the source, Chamisa discussed his colleagues in CCC with Prof Moyo and was now afraid that if that leaks, it will cause antagonism within that party ahead of the 2023 elections.
The same source added that what had angered Chamisa the most in Prof Moyo’s letter was when he said that, ‘we hoped in vain that Chamisa would break barriers and forge a new platform on which a cross section of citizens straddling the political divide could converge, based on Zimbabwe’s founding values and principles stipulated in section 3 of Zimbabwe’s Constitution’.
The source said that such a description tarnished Chamisa’s image and might affect his political standing as the country moves closer to the 2023 plebiscite.
The source further said that some people in CCC were actually happy that Prof Moyo has fallen out with Chamisa as at one time the latter considered Prof Moyo as his political godfather instead of taking advices from seasoned members of the opposition.
Meanwhile, the ZANU PF party has since expressed willingness to readmit Prof Moyo and Zhuwao who were expelled from the Party in November 2017. The two were part of the vanquished G-40 faction that caused chaos within the Party just before the 2017 ZANU PF People’s Congress.
