Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim co-deputy president, Tendai Biti has refused to wade into the current contretemps between Nelson Chamisa and Professor Jonathan Moyo as he views the tiff as more personal than general.
A source who spoke to this publication said Biti labelled Chamisa and Prof Moyo ‘two bitter old people’ who have refused to grow up.
“Biti said he will not wade into the current war of words between Chamisa and Prof Moyo as the tiff has nothing to do with CCC. Biti said Chamisa and Moyo’s spat was personal as the duo were fighting their own personal battles,” said the source.
The source added that Biti distanced himself from the squabbles saying that he once warned Chamisa to be careful with Moyo but he refused to take heed to the advice.
“Biti said they once warned Chamisa not to be too cosy with Moyo but the advice was not taken. Biti added that Chamisa invited the backlash upon himself as he at some point treated Prof Moyo as a personal advisor at the expense of seasoned opposition members,” added the source.
According to the source, Biti once tried to engage self-exiled, Saviour Kasukuwere to reign in Moyo but the former reportedly revealed that Moyo was thick-headed and would not take advice from anyone.
“Biti revealed that Kasukuwere refused to intermediate between Moyo and Chamisa as Moyo was big-headed and would not take advice from anyone. From how Biti spoke, it seems Kasukuwere is no longer in good books with Prof Moyo,” added the source.
Meanwhile, there are reports that some CCC bigwigs are celebrating the fallout between Moyo and Chamisa as in 2018; the latter relegated his lieutenants to the peripheries of the opposition politics affairs choosing to plan and strategize with Moyo.
