The Government has moved in to assist victims of the Mhangura accident which killed five people and injured 19 others on Saturday.
Mashonaland West Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mary Mliswa during her visit to the survivors yesterday, said that the Government would assist the victims.
“We are here to assess the situation and give assistance that might arise. For the deceased, the party has helped with coffins, fuel and food,” said Mliswa.
One of the survivors expressed gratitude to ZANU PF party for helping them meet other expenses.
“We would like to thank the party ZANU PF for assisting us, otherwise it was going to be an uphill task for us,” said a relative of one of the deceased.
Meanwhile, ZANU PF Makonde District Coordinating Committee (DCC) Chairman and Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Deputy Minister, Kindness Paradza together with Mhangura legislator, Precious Chinhamo-Masango, visited the injured at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital where they are recovering.
The accident occurred around midday on Saturday, killing five people, three of them on the spot and fourteen people sustained injuries when their vehicle burst its left rear tyre and overturned before rolling several times.
The vehicle had on board 19 occupants who included players from Emily Park and Monorose farms in Mhangura`s Ward 5 travelling to Mtunzi in Ward 13 for a social soccer match.
