Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa has abandoned families of CCC interim vice chairperson, Job Sikhala and CCC Chitungwiza North Member of Parliament, Godfrey Sithole reducing them to beggars.
A source within the CCC youth league executive revealed that embattled Chamisa whose faction favours youths such as Gift Sizib, has left the welfare of both Sikhala and Sithole families in the hands of well-wishers.
According to sources, Sikhala is fast becoming the new favourite of the West which has irked Chamisa to a point of abandoning the duo’s families to starve.
“Chamisa has been unsettled by the fact that the United States (US), Swedish and British governments have been pulling their efforts towards the release of his would be challenger (Sikhala) for party leadership. This has resulted in Chamisa channelling all party funds towards rallies and campaign material whilst leaving out the duo in remand. The reason of course is to make sure that he makes himself more established whilst Sikhala is in jail,” said the Source who preferred to remain anonymous.
The source added that on 2 August 2022, a total of 45 sympathisers from the British Diaspora community came up with an initiative to raise the sum of £6 000 to give as charity assistance to families of Sikhala and Sithole.
“The fundraising was initiated by Estelle Adams-Stone. A total of 45 well-wishers in the diaspora started an initiative to raise £6 000. This fundraising project was set in motion on 2 August 2022 after sympathisers had realised that Chamisa was adamant to assist Sikhala who is fast becoming his contender for the party leadership,” said the source.
Chamisa has been criticised by many for his undemocratic style of leadership especially when dealing with competitors within his party. Following the death of the late Morgan Tsvangirai, Chamisa and his loyalists locked Thokozani Khupe, who was his senior at the time and a possible successor to Tsvangirai, in a hut and threatened to burn it down. Khupe had to be rescued and whisked to safety by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
Chamisa and his opposition party were also responsible for instigating violence after the 2018 harmonised elections just to usurp power. These protests resulted in six deaths. Meanwhile, Jacob Ngarivhume leader of Transform Zimbabwe who is also an ally to Chamisa, recently expressed concern over Chamisa’s lack of interest in assisting Sikhala.
