Bulawayo based US surrogate, Ben Freeth is frantically working to scamper the Global Compensation Deed (GCD) signed between Zimbabwe Government and Commercial Farmers Union (CFU) on 29 July 2020.
Freeth also threatens to call for the maintenance of the illegal economic sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by Britain and her Western allies.
According to a source, Freeth, a Bulawayo businessman and member of CFU posted on … WhatsApp group on 9 August 2022 advising that on his recent travel to US from 01 to 08 August, he was informed of plans to resuscitate Southern African Development Community (SADC) Tribunal by the US State Department. SADC Tribunal is responsible for upholding the CFU`s judgment victory in the 2008 case of Mike Campbell (Pvt) Ltd in which the Tribunal ruled that Zimbabwe Government was in violation of the rule of law and human rights.
“Ben Freeth sent a post stating that his recent visit to US he was informed by the US State Department that plans were in place to resuscitate the SADC Tribunal to handle and moderate the Zimbabwe GCD. He also expressed excitement over this development and urged fellow former white farmers to withdraw from the GCD deal.
According to Freeth, the resuscitation of the Tribunal would be made possible through litigation suit which is before South African Courts of Law pursued by South African Civil Rights Group and Afriforum Lawyer, Willie Spies. Freeth also revealed that the US government would maintain the economic sanctions against Zimbabwe through the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act (ZIDERA).
US government has continuously exerted pressure on Zimbabwe government through use of illegal economic sanctions on Zimbabwe. The purpose of the sanctions is to make the people of Zimbabwe turn riotous and revolt against the government. On 29 July 2020, Zimbabwe penned down an agreement to compensate the White farmers to the tune of US$3.5 billion
