The ascendance of Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa to the country’s first office should enable him to jump start the Zimbabwe’s economic recovery.
President Mnangagwa assumed the Presidency of Zimbabwe early this morning in a first historic fashion which saw elections being observed under close scrutiny by international observers for the first time.
One citizen of Zimbabwe, James Makamba, expressed his sentiment on twitter that President Mnangagwa now had a chance to lead the country into the New Dispensation. Makamba also said the President had a task to unite the people, rebuild the nation and lure more investors.
“I wish the newly elected President of Zimbabwe, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the best of luck as we rebuild our economy, open up to more investors and unite as a nation. It is possible in Zimbabwe!” tweeted Makamba.
In his congratulatory message to President Mnangagwa, the Tanzanian President, Dr John Magufuli, said President Mnangagwa, had gained more confidence from Zimbabweans through his focus on economic recovery of Zimbabwe such as engaging the international community, Harare Post has learnt.
“Cde Mnangagwa, on behalf of the Government and people of Tanzania, I convey my sincere congratulations on your victory in the Presidential Elections of Zimbabwe. Your victory is a reflection of the confidence reposed in you by the people of Zimbabwe in leading them to prosperity,” said Tanzania President Magufuli.
