The ruling ZANU PF is leaving no stone unturned as it prepares for next year’s harmonised elections and has set this coming Saturday to be a day to take stock of its structures.
During a press briefing yesterday, the ruling Party’s National Political Commissar (PC), Cde Mike Bimha said the Cell Day was launched to strengthen the Party’s grassroots, organisational and mobilisation units.
“That’s where the organisation of the Party begins, therefore the value of the Cell will be underlined at this event this Saturday, 11 June 2022,” said Cde Bimha.
The PC directed that all Party activities should be halted on that day to allow members to attend to the Cell meetings.
“There is an agenda for this coming event and as a result of the value that we attached, we are saying to all provinces they should put aside all activities. They must postpone all programmes so that everyone has an opportunity to attend their Cell meetings,” said Cde Bimha.
According to Cde Bimha, the activities on the National Cell Day will include verification and inspection of Party Cells, to confirm if all Cell members are registered voters, to inspect if all Party members had national identity documents as well as to confirm members’ polling stations.
Cde Bimha added that to show the importance of the Cell structure, President Mnangagwa will attend a cell meeting at his Cell in Kwekwe on Saturday where it will be chaired by that respective Cell chairperson. However, as a senior Party member at that Cell, the President would be expected to give closing remarks at the conclusion of that meeting.
Meanwhile, a ZANU PF Cell comprises of 50 members and that is where the mobilization for the Party starts. Every member of ZANU PF is expected to belong to a Cell regardless of the position one might have within the Party.
