President Mnangagwa has commended the Rotary Club for successfully implementing programmes meant to uplift people’s lives.
Rotary Club is an international service organisation whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world.
Giving his speech during the official opening ceremony of the Annual Conference Rotary District in the capital yesterday, President Mnangagwa applauded the Rotary Club for complementing Government’s efforts to improve people’s lives by implementing programmes with a far reaching impact on the community.
“I want to acknowledge the various programmes by the Rotary Club which complement Government’s efforts for higher quality of life for all. These programmes include helping enhance food security at household level, improve health and sanitation, realise quality education for all as well as grow local economies and incomes while promoting peace, unity and harmony among people,” said the President.
President Mnangagwa added that Rotarians were indeed a partner for national development as they were assisting Government in the provision of water and other needs to communities.
“To augment Government’s efforts in the provision of critical infrastructure to various communities, Rotarians are applauded for working with several rural communities and schools towards improving access to clean water and sanitation. This is in keeping with my Government’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind,” added the President.
The President further said that the project by the Rotarians to rehabilitate dams in Matebeleland South complements the Government’s on-going dam construction and rehabilitation projects across the country. President Mnangagwa also commended the Rotary Club for assisting in the provision of health facilities in the country.
Meanwhile, Rotary International Director, Patrick Chisanga, assured President Mnangagwa that the Rotary Club will continue to partner with the Government in implementing programmes meant to change people lives.
