The ruling ZANU PF Youth League has endorsed President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 plebiscite.
Addressing members of the press yesterday, the outgoing ZANU PF Acting Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs, Tendai Chirau said President Mnangagwa’s candidacy was endorsed by all Party youth structures across the country after considering the work he had undertaken to develop the country.
“I want to inform the media that one of the key resolutions that came overwhelmingly from all the Provinces from the youth structures was that President Mnangagwa should be the Party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2023 elections. The decision was unanimous. This was the first and foremost resolution that we adopted. The reason being that President Mnangagwa is a leader who has positively revamped the country’s economy and he made sure that the youths were included in economic issues,” said Chirau.
Chirau further informed that the national youth wing would today elect members to the national executive and added that ZANU PF was the only party that practices democracy.
“We are the only party that practises democracy. Other parties don’t elect each other as they just impose. As ZANU PF, we renew our leadership of the Party every five years through a democratic and clear process. Pseudo democrats lie to you that they are democrats yet they don’t practise that democracy. They need to get a lesson from ZANU PF,” added Cde Chirau.
Chirau also discouraged the circulation of fake news pertaining ZANU PF and urged those who want authentic and verified information about the Party to approach relevant party members for the same.
The conference that will end tomorrow, will be officially opened today by President Mnangagwa and subsequently chaired by the Party’s National Chairperson, Cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri. The conference is running under the theme, “Vision 2030: Revitalise, Empower, Involve the Youths.”
