Following Cabinet’s directive that no unvaccinated Civil Servants will be allowed to attend work, the Public Service Commission (PSC) has written to heads of Ministries emphasising the same and urging Government workers who have not been vaccinated to do so.

“In line with said Cabinet decision, all Civil Servants should be vaccinated without delay and unvaccinated members shall not be allowed to report for duty and will not be deemed to be working. All heads of Ministries are therefore urged to make arrangements for all Civil Servants under their Jurisdiction to be vaccinated and to explain to any who elect not to be vaccinated that they will not be deemed to be working,” said Public Service Commission Secretary, Ambassador Jonathan Wutawunashe.

Ambassador Wutaunashe urged all the Ministries to cooperate as the country remains alert in combating the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, a survey conducted by this publication reveals that a good number of Civil Servants have embraced the vaccination programme, complementing Government’s efforts in fighting the pandemic.

A School Head in Mutoko, who preferred anonymity, told this publication that out of twenty teachers at his school, only two have not yet been vaccinated.

“Most teachers at this school have embraced the vaccination programme and only two out of twenty teachers are yet to be vaccinated. I am sure by the end of next week all of us will have been vaccinated,” he said.

To date, a total of 2 892 137 people have been vaccinate against Covid-19 in Zimbabwe.

As at 15 September 2021, Zimbabwe had 127 083 confirmed cases, including 119 789 recoveries and 4551 deaths.
