Mashakada slates MDC Alliance members

Former MDC Alliance National Standing Committee (NSC) member and now MDC-T Treasurer General, Tapiwa Mashakada, has labelled members of the rival MDC Alliance as uneducated and unpatriotic people who use vulgar language and insults when debating issues on social media.

Mashakada said the MDC Alliance should take a leaf from the MDC-T which is full of intellectuals who believe in differences of opinion.

“The majority of MDC Alliance Facebook activists are uneducated and unpatriotic. Unlike the MDC Alliance, the MDC-T is full of intellectuals, policy gurus and social democrats who believe in differences of opinion. In MDC-T, we tolerate divergent views and we listen,” said Mashakada.

The Hatfield legislator added that the majority of MDC Alliance resort to vulgar language when debating issues, a sign of their intellectual bankruptcy.

“I don’t have respect for some hired and uneducated MDC Alliance Facebook activists who use vulgar and foul language. We in the MDC-T present issues and debate. We do not abuse or scold our critics. We believe in the battle of ideas,” added Mashakada.

Mashakada reminded the MDC Alliance that voters are not those found on social media, but are people who have love for their country.

“Voters put Zimbabwe first. MDC Alliance Facebook activists use foul and vulgar language, but real voters don’t do that. Voters are wise and intelligent. They vote and love their country, but MDC Alliance social media activists are an angry lot who are not even registered voters,” said Mashakada.

The MDC Alliance members are always accused of flooding the social media with insults and vulgar language directed at anyone perceived to be an opponent of Nelson Chamisa. The MDC Alliance members have also been accused of reducing social media debates to platforms where insults are traded instead of developmental ideas.
