Africa University (AU) Information Communication Technology (ICT) Director, Richard Fostin has won the "Best Academia Ambassador" award from Serosoft Solutions (SS), a leading Indian education software development company.
AU also won in the same category as an institution for advancing the cause of the integration of digital solutions into administrative systems and being an advocate for more institutions of higher education in Zimbabwe and beyond, to use technology to improve service delivery.
AU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Munashe Furusa said Fotsin led the team that implemented the university's student information management system, which enabled the university to efficiently manage students’ information and data from application to graduation.
“We are able to access student information at the click of a button. We are therefore pleased that he was recognized for his efforts in facilitating quality education for our students,” he said.
Fostin is a holder of an MSc Computer and Information Systems (Jesuit University of Detroit Mercy, United States of America)

Fostin said, “Me and my team feel honored by the recognition. We have been working with the (Serosoft) application since 2016 and should believe that having a convergent vision with Serosoft made it easy for them to give us the award.”

Africa University is pan-African by design and is home to students, faculty and staff from more than 28 African countries.
AU was the first recognized private university in Zimbabwe.
In the wake of COVID-19, ICTs have become more important than ever as virtual meetings are no longer a choice, but the only available option especially for trans-border interactions.
Colleges and universities have also shifted to e-learning to offset the effects of COVID-19.
