Matabeleland based, Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP), has reiterated that tribal politics in MDC will eventually lead to the demise of Chamisa’s MDC party, Harare Post has learnt.
In an interview with this publication, a MRP Bulawayo Provincial member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, opines that the current events unfolding in the MDC Alliance are as a result of tribal based politics.
“MDC tribal politics of promoting Shona supremacy was an calculated move by Chamisa which will soon lead to his downfall. Mthwakazi struggle will leave us with only one pertinent enemy which is ZANU PF,” said the source.
“Tribal politics in the MDC is a clear indication that the party has never concerned itself with the Ndebele people regardless of the fact that the party garnered majority support in Matabeleland, if not all the constituencies in Bulawayo Province. Resisting Khupe is an indication of betrayal to the people of Mthwakazi whose votes were simply used to promote Shona supremacy in the MDC,” he added.
He further lamented the party’s position to disengage from Parliament as it means that the majority of Ndebele people who voted it into power would be left unattended. “This is marginalisation at its best,” he said.
Current factional feuds within the MDC Alliance following the recent Supreme Court judgement which reinstated Thokozani Khupe as the legitimate leader of MDC has left the party in disarray with many questioning why Chamisa is reluctant to implement the dictates of the law.
